Our responsibility:
Our policy binds us in keeping the Maputaland Community in the light of what is happening around this area and engaging into development processes happening in the area. It is our main priority to generate and broadcast good-quality news for our listeners. Although we come across so many challenges in our daily work activities, we always strive for the best for our listeners. Whilst challenges prevails, but we have also achieve means along the way.
Personnel structure:
Our personnel structures includes 1 news head whose main job is to oversee¸ monitor and maintains editorial control over all news content and supervise personnel. We also have individuals who work as Stringers within our community and they are gathering stories around their community and file them in the station.
Meet our diligent team members who make sure that all the activities in the newsroom are of a very good local quality namely: Noah Mthethwa our frequent News Anchor, Thobile Khumalo, Sbongile Dlamini and Jabulile Shongwe, who reads, compile and write news for current affairs shows and bulletins as well Sthembile Myeni who head the department.
Current Affairs program:
This is when our news room personnel broadcast the news details. Our news department is well equipped to produce a good quality current affairs programme and our news team has the first-hand knowledge of current news issues that are relevant to our community and our audience.
Our current affairs programme slot is from Mondays to Fridays. We come on air from 17h30 to 18h30(Mondays to Thursdays), only on Fridays we start at 17h00 to 18h00, afternoons. Our news resources are the community at large, police stations, local government activities, Traditional leadership stories and community events.
Our bulletin structure:
Our bulletin consists of a leading story, secondary story, sports and weather.
It is our responsibility to keep our public informative, by being objective, factual clear and accurate at all times. Always to be clear we avoid jargon and ambiguous words. We use the language that is well spoken within our community, which is IsiZulu.
Our news is scheduled 60% of Local news, 20% of Provincial news, 15% of National news and 5% of International/ World news. Our news bulletins take 5 – 10 minutes on air with headlines and themes, in different time intervals. Our daily time of news broadcast is at 07:30 in the morning, 12h30 in the afternoon, 15h30 in the afternoon and 18h30 in the evenings. |
